The door to mercy and love of Allah lies through forgiveness. One day, Aisha (RA) questioned the Prophet Mohhamad what she was to say in case she discovered the Night of Qadr. He taught her this dua:
Allahumma inika afuwwun tuhibbul-afwa faatu fi.
Translation:
O Allah, You are Forgiving, and there is no one whom You love to forgive, forgive me. (Tirmidhi)
Pardon leads to cleansing of the heart, and it is prepared to obtain the sweetness of the love of Allah.
